The Online College Slacker Class
Strategies for Pumping Up Your GPA
Everyone has a particular subject they find easy. For me, it's English Lit. For some lucky people it's math.
Well, whatever. You know what you're good at, and you know the classes you find easiest.
In addition to knowing your slacker abilities - you should also keep your ears to the ground for instructors or professors who are lenient, don't give a lot of homework and who generally run (shh... a slacker class).
Now you are set to play Slackerama!
I always hold back a few slacker classes - I don't rush in and take all the slacker classes right away - just because they're easy.
I dole them out slowly over time - easing them in, when I know I'm going to be up against some mind bending, heavy hauling semester. (For me, that means a lot of MATH.)
This gives me the feeling that I have some control. The thought that I can always pull out of my GPA nosedive next semester, (with the help of a few slacker classes) is a truly great stress reliever when I start to feel overwhelmed.
This is all very elementary, and I'm sure you've figured this out by yourself, many long moons ago, so why am I telling you?
Because studies have shown that students with positive coping strategies have higher GPA's than those with negative coping strategies. Don't you just love obvious studies like that?
I want you to have a barrelful of coping strategies to draw from. I want you to be able to say to yourself, "I'm in control, I'm on the right path."
College is one the most stressful times of your life, also one of the best times. When you feel that you have some control over things, especially your GPA, you are one step ahead.
