Reasons Why I Should Go To College

Students ask me "what are the reasons why I should go to college?"

I'm telling you what I tell them...

"So that you can help ten times more people than you are helping right now."

Helping others is the foundation of all success, both financial and personal.

Seven top reasons why you should go to college.

1. Increase, or get a skill.
College is a great place to level up on skills. (So you can help more people.)

2. Get specialized knowledge.
(So you can help more people.)

3. Learn to think critically.
You're not much help to others if you can't tell your arse from your elbow.

4. Finding your giants.
Isaac Newton said "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." College will introduce you to giant thinkers, both dead and living, on which to build your vision. (that will help more people)

5. Having conversations with the wise.
The Chinese have a saying that a single conversation with a wise man is worth more than ten years of study. Colleges are full of gabbling idiots, but there are always a few wise, old geezers tucked away in book lined, ruinous, dusty closets... seek the wise and ask questions. (So you can help more people.)

6. Being on the cutting edge.
Research universities offer opportunities to be a part of the next best thing. (that will help more people)

7. Learn to do.
College coursework comes at you fast and furious. You'll learn to prioritize, meet deadlines, finish projects and how to get 'er done. Do or do not, there is no try in college.

The cost of college hurts... if you aren't increasing skills, getting special knowledge, having incredible conversations, finding your giants or taking part in something amazing... go get a plumbing license. Your college sucks and it's not for you.
