Free College Bill Fails in North Dakota

It was a Nice Idea...

How do you get kids to go to school in North Dakota, where the average winter temperature is "colder than a witches tit" and the most exciting thing happening is the annual Lutefisk Fight with Minnesota?

You make it free!

Well, that would sell a lot of students. Heck they would have families moving in from Hawaii to take advantage of that kind of deal.

The North Dakota House weighed the pro's and con's of the proposal and thought better of what has been termed, "North Dakota's Promise". Today, (Mar. 22, 07) the bill was voted down, 65-28.

In a way, I'm kind of glad. North Dakota is an awfully nice state. I'd hate to see that change with an overloaded college system.

But it was a NICE idea.
