How to Become a Lawyer Without Going to Law School
Have you ever thought you might
become a lawyer if you didn't have to pay $200,000 to graduate from law school?
Did you know there are programs around the country that allow you to do just that?
They are called "Judges Chambers" programs, or "Law Office Study" programs. Essentially, you study under a judge or a lawyer for four years, take some competency exams and voila! You are eligible to take the bar - without law school.
California, Vermont, Virginia and Washington let you "read" the bar after four years of study with a mentor. New York, Maine and Wyoming have a combination program allowing you to take the bar if you have some law school and finish your studies under a mentor.
